A MBARE husband and wife team conned a Kuwadzana man out of US$4 000 dowry payment by pretending to be siblings

A brother Brian Nkatazo Mathe (30) and his wife Stephanie Pullen (22) pretended to be siblings and conned a Kuwadzana man out of US$4 000 payment in dowry.

It is alleged that in February 2017,the couple opened a Facebook account, and lured Nyakanyaka Msipani (56) into falling in love with Stephanie Pullen.

The victim Msipani met Pullen originally who later introduced her husband Brian Nkatazo Mathe as her brother.

Pullen agreed to marry Nyakanyaka Msipani (56) , who had been told that the ‘siblings’ parents were late and so Msipani would need to pay lobola to Pullen’s surviving “brother”, Mathe.

Msipani transferred US$3 000 in March 2017 to to Mathe’s account and Mathe blessed the marriage but did not escort Pullen to his residence two weeks later as promised.

The victim waited two weeks before Mathe phoned him to say his new wife was seriously ill and needed medical assistance.

The gullible Msipani handed over his bank account and pin number to Mathe and authorised them to withdraw US$100.
The crafty husband and wife team withdrew US$589 and then sob stories started pouring in, including having paid medical billsso they were desperate for help in purchasing groceries.

This time Msipani gave the couple another bank card with US$440 but the ‘brother and sister’ or rather couple Pullen and Mathe disappeared along with Msipani’s bank card and used all the money from the account.

Eventually Msipani met Mathe in the CBD and and managed to have him arrested. The couple admitted to harare magistrates court to fraud and are set to be sentenced.

newzimbabwevision says This dude was at best, simply a victim of his own kindness and at worst a victim of his own stupidity by trusting strangers, never meeting any family , friends or colleagues of theirs, buying into their sob stories and dreaming that he had found himself an angel,..I mean come on people, t he is 56 and the woman is 22, right there was the most obvious clue that there is something wrong.

Secondly, as bad as this sounds, its a fact, the fact that she is Zimbabwean is normally a pointer to an arising scam becuse its second nature to our kith and kin. Case in point, look at Mugabe. He is not as evil as Zimbabweans portray him but rather he is simply being Zimbabwean and behaving like how Zimbabweans by nature tend to behave. He is in the fore front as a public figure because all he does is of public interest so we magnify all he does. Painful to accept but its the truth about our nature.

Thirdly, alarm bells should have been much louder and lights flashing as you can see that she would disappear from the face of this earth once money was paid , US$3,00 originally for lobola,…fine so far but then within less than two weeks there was a call for urgent medical bills to be paid as she was now ill.
The sleepy dude gave them his card and allowed them to withdraw US$100 and they saw free manna as the fool was buying into all their sob stories and withdrew US$589 don’t forget these are orphaned, as parents died.

.WARNING, as good as it appears, lovely girl, heart rending sob stories about immediate family and it involving a Zimbabwean, raise the red flag especially when the guaranteed money issues arise and sob stories start pouring in. He should have spotted that when they had money from him, they didn’t need to see him, only meeting up on social media but in realitysimply disappeared and when they needed money, suddenly at the very least the ‘brother’ appeared but with more sob stories, yet the fool kept pumping out money believing he had found an angel,…just another Zimbabwean con lady

Who knows, maybe the poor dude who thought he had found himself an angel, is not the only victim in this case. Its possible that the scheming woman played both and she was enjoying the best of both worlds.

Time and again, i get messages from both women and men crying about the deceitful nature of our people and all they seek is support and advice. I do the best I can and refer them to the right authorities for help but its a common trend, cash, sob stories and love,

Wake up people!…No man would pay US$4,000 towards dowry without having sampled the goods, in this case road tested the marriage by seeing how sexually compatible they were and several times before. He obviously only paid US$4,000 for sex not dowry as this was a con artist but if she is as clever as she appears to be, Im sure she played both dudes, even possibly with a third guy…clever girl,..razor! May this story serve as a wake up call to all our kith and kin,..if it appears too good, then maybe it actually is too good to be true and its all a con.

Lets remember that conmen and conwomen exist amongst Zimbabweans both home and across the diaspora. Once you get sob stories, cash demands, stories about reasons for not meeting up,…wadyiwa!
It is important for victims to accept reality, have the power to close the chapter and move on with their lives peacefully but even more so to share their stories and expose conmen and conwomen. Publicity is important, no need to be shy about your experiences as I alwasy advise many more have gone through worse in life that  your story is nothing but adrop in the ocean, so, talk about it people as its the first step towards healing and sving many more innocent people from falling prey to such cons.
The womans’s family , friends and colleagues would have told him, she is conning you but he foolishly chose to buy into her sob stories without ever meeting any.
Her behaviour in this case is not only telling about her but the family as a whole in that what she did is a reflection of the very nature of her up bringing, character of siblings, aunts and parents,…sick family of gold diggers…..wake up Zimbabwe! DISCUSS. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
