Fear and panic by the local people as Obert Mpofu announces that Government will acquire Hope Fountain Mission Farm and gazette it for resettlement,

Tennyson-Hlabangana (1)
Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Dr Obert Mpofu has said the government will acquire Hope Fountain Mission Farm and gazette it for resettlement, a declaration that was received with fear, panic and resentment by the local people in Hope Fountain Village.

Speaking on Friday at Tennyson Hlabangana High School during a ceremony to commemorate the completion of the renovations of a 3km strip of Hope Fountain Road that stretches from Waterford Suburb in Bulawayo leading to the mission farm and school, Dr Mpofu said the government will soon be taking over the farm for resettlement.

“As part of its resettlement program, the government of Zimbabwe will gazette this (Hope Fountain Mission Farm) and other related farms for resettlement because they are lying idle and underutilized,” Dr. Mpofu said.

Established by the London Mission Society (LMS) on the 16th of November 1870 with permission from King Lobengula and described in 1896 by Frank Sykes as “the prettiest spot in the neighbourhood of Bulawayo…with a perpetual stream of clear water running between the hills, wooded slopes and grassy slopes, where no more pleasant site for a residence could well be imagined”, Hope Fountain Mission is the second oldest mission in Zimbabwe after Inyati Mission.

The mission where President Robert Mugabe once taught between 1945 and 1948, is located 16km South-East of Bulawayo and lies within Dr. Mpofu’s Umguza District. Together with its mission school, Tennyson Hlabangana High, monumental cemetery and goldfields, the mission farm today is owned by the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) (formerly LMS).

Moving on, Dr. Mpofu’s declaration was not well received by the local villagers who criticized the government for wanting to distort the heritage of the village.

“Dr. Mpofu’s move is reminiscent of the persecution of the church by Saul as quoted in the Book of Acts in the Bible. These politicians should learn to understand the difference between politics and the values of the citizenry,” said a villager who declined to be named for fear of victimization.

In an interview, another clearly shocked villager who chose to be called Ncube said: “If these people want to help us, they should just do so without any ulterior motives behind their generosity. Vele ngivele ngasolela ukuthi lokhu akusoze kuphethe kodwa ngoba legrid seligqitshelwe. UMphoko laye ulethe iSabatha yakhe lapha kodwa esazi mhlophe ukuthi umhlaba lo ngoweMission (translated to: I actually suspected that the move will not just end at renovations because even the grid has been eliminated. Even VP Mphoko brought his Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church here knowing well that this is UCCSA mission land)”.

In another similar incident in 2015 which caused alarm and left many wondering as to what the motivess of the government were towards mission related churches, the government made a move to gazette Cyrene High School Mission Farm.

Meanwhile, UCCSA authorities have not yet issued any statement on the matter at the moment.

Security forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo have shot dead 37 Burundian migrants who were protesting after four of their countrymen were expelled, the UN says.

Its peacekeeping mission Monusco said another 117 were injured during the incident in the east of the country.

Government sources said protesters overran a prison where the Burundians were being held for deportation.

The UN has called for an investigation into exactly what happened.

Monusco’s Florence Marchal said her team was “shocked” by the killings.

The Burundian protesters, she said, “were not happy because four of them have been expelled from Congo. A [Congolese soldier] was killed in the clash, and it led to the escalation of violence.

“Congolese defence and security forces then allegedly responded with indiscriminate firing on the protesters.”

Burundi committed crimes against humanity – UN
Burundi’s tit-for-tat killings spread fear
The Congolese interior ministry earlier said troops had fired in the air but were overwhelmed by protesters throwing stones.

In the wake of the killings, Burundi’s Foreign Minister Alain Aimé Nyamitwe took to Twitter demanding answers.

More than 400,000 people have fled Burundi since 2015, when President Pierre Nkurunziza announced he would seek a third term, sparking widespread violence.

Some 40,000 are living in the DRC, the UN Refugee Agency said.

A note on terminology: The BBC uses the term migrant to refer to all people on the move who have yet to complete the legal process of claiming asylum. This group includes people fleeing war-torn countries such as Syria, who are likely to be granted refugee status, as well as people who are seeking jobs and better lives, who governments are likely to rule are economic migrants. Four people have died after a lorry smashed through barriers and crashed into two opposite traffic cars on the M5 in Gloucestershire between junctions 15 and 14

Four people have died after a lorry smashed through barriers and crashed into two opposite traffic cars on the M5 in Gloucestershire between junctions 15 and 14 Lorry crashed down an embankment after collision involving several vehicles

Police said a lorry travelling southbound crashed through the central reservation and hit at least two vehicles heading the opposite way.

A woman and two children were also injured in the crash and taken to hospitals in Bristol, where they are in a life-threatening condition. Emergency services were called just after 2.30pm to junctions 15 and 14 in Gloucestershire

Emergency services were called just after 14:30 BST to junctions 15 and 14 in Gloucestershire.

The lorry driver was taken to hospital to be checked over as a precaution.

Police said the motorway would be shut in both directions between junctions 16 and 14 overnight, as the recovery operation and investigations at the scene continue.

Superintendent Simon Ellis of Avon and Somerset Police said the rescue and recovery operation was “painstaking work”. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed four people had died

“Our priority is to ensure the victims’ next of kin are notified and supported, as well as the ongoing management of the scene, and this important work is ongoing,” he said.

Supt Ellis thanked the emergency services, as well as members of the public who “courageously went to the aid of those involved” in the crash. The section of the M5 where the accident occurred is likely to remain closed into the evening

Cardiologist Dr Amer Hamed was in a car travelling “10 to 20 seconds behind” when the crash happened.

He was one of the first at the scene along with a passing GP and other medics to help an injured woman who was in one of the cars.

Paramedics arrived on the scene about six minutes later and the woman Dr Hamed had been helping was taken away by ambulance to hospital.

He said: “There was a lorry involved and at least two other cars. One was absolutely destroyed and another had flipped over.”

He said motorists who had been stuck on the carriageway for several hours were being “very helpful”.

“People are helping as much as they can,” he said.

“Several people offered us water and one man came out of his car to give food. We’re going to be stuck here for a few hours yet.”

South Western Ambulance Service said it was called just after 14.30 BST.

The most striking thing about the scene is the almost complete silence here.

Looking over the bridge, the police, fire and ambulance crews are patiently doing their work at quite a disturbing scene.

The lorry that has crashed has hit what M5 commuters will know as a familiar landmark, a windsock next to the road. But alongside that are several cars crushed from the impact.

On the other side of the bridge, motorists patiently wait with some eager to help. I overheard one asking if any prayer support was needed. While others talk to police officers about the sadness of what has happened. Source BBC.photos-the sun

I say, when a people cannot afford simple panties, should we really be bothered about those who choose to walk without panties on? For a start, it must be quite liberating and offer plenty ventilation,..I’m just saying!

The fact that adults are wasting their time debating about panties instead of focusing on real issues that directly affect their lives, certainly proves how people can lose focus and be deeply engrossed in petty useless matters,..panties..really? Wake up Zimbabwe! ‘SHOCK and concern as Zimbabwe’s MDC-T leader Richard Morgan Tsvangirai is airlifted on a life-support system for emergency surgery and treatment in South Africa’

tsvangirai-cancer-2
Zimbabwe’s MDC-T leader Richard Morgan Tsvangirai was early yesterday morning rushed to South Africa attached to a life-support system .

The opposition leaders health suffered a serious deterioration during an opposition MDC Alliance strategic meeting held in Kadoma on Thursday this week.

Tsvangirai is known to be suffering from cancer of the colon. In a shockingly similar emergency to one recently suffered by the Vice President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa after he consumed ‘Gushungo Alpha Omega dairy ice cream while attending a Zanu Pf rally in Gwanda before being airlifted to Gweru and later to South Africa for treatment, Tsvangirai allegedly had lunch then started vomiting and had to leave the meeting.

His health condition, further deteriorated and his medical doctor, Macdonald Alifazema, reportedly recommended that the MDC T opposition leader should be be flown to South Africa for urgent surgery because of its serious nature.

The MDC T leader Richard Morgan Tsvangirai was rushed on an Ace ambulance from a local hospital and  airlifted at approximately 2am on a chartered private jet, flight reference H.A.C Reg ZS – MBS to Johannesburg, South Africa for medical attention, accompanied by his wife Elizabeth, Dr Alifazema and an anaesthetist nurse who according to sources was only identified as Muzavazi.

Those who saw Tsvangirai before the medical emergency evacuation to South Africa claim he had been vomiting heavily and was placed on oxygen support and attached to a drip.

Without a clear leadership succession plan, the MDC alliance and ultimately the Zimbabwean public will face confusion and destruction against a more established, secure and filthy rich Mugabe, Zanu pf stalwarts, securocrats and zim1 family caucus ahead of crucial elections set for 2018 if Tsvangirai becomes indisposed. It is such a shame that Zimbabwe’s opposition and ruling party leaders are continuously flown out of the country on health tours while the ordinary people continue to suffer due to drug shortages, dilapidated and understaffed health institutions along with unaffordable health fees, where available.
