Grace Mugabe rise, Gushungo dynasty and how the ongoing power struggle in Zimbabwe is shaped by both local and international political dispensation
The former African Union Commission chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma called on Zimbabwe’s first lady, Grace Mugabe, to face the law over allegations of assaulting South African model, Gabriella Engels. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma was previously married to South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma and her second daughter Gugulethu, is married to prominent opposition leader in Zimbabwe, Welshman Ncube ‘s son Wesley.
Lets look at how much influence there is in Zimbabwe’s politics from outside. Zuma could please his ex wife and mother of his child by ensuring that Grace Mugabe was denied Diplomatic immunity and instead arrested and prosecuted for assaulting Gabriella Engels.
In theory, this, to President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace Mugabe, would have been the clearest indication that its a deliberate attempt by Zuma to destroy Grace Mugabe a clear contender for succeeding Mugabe as the next President of Zimbabwe and instantly giving opposition .a better chance of unseating Mugabe.
This would clearly be dislodging the Gushungo family dynasty and spread of their business empire, destroying their monopoly over wealth and power, while his own family is happier as an estranged Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Jacob Zuma unite in decision making over blocking Diplomatic unity for Grace Mugabe.
The real concern for Mugabe being that Welshman Ncube is an MDC principal from the original MDC by Tsvangirai in 2000 who later split up with Tsvangirai in 2005.
Welshman Ncube a Constitutional lawyer by training in 1992 became one of the youngest professors at the University of Zimbabwe at the age of 31. He held a major role in shaping the Global Political Agreement leading to the formation of the Zimbabwean Government of National Unity (GNU), which stabilised Zimbabwe between 2008 and the infamous NIKUV ballot of 31 July 2013.
Professor Welshman Ncube had warned the nation and the globe that it was best to delay having elections in 2013 until already agreed upon electoral reforms, signed up to by all GNU principals including Tsvangirai, Ncube and Mugabe were implemented. Tsvangirai who had lost his guard from holding regular Monday morning teas with Mugabe, saw himself already in the state house and was not going to take advice from Ncube with whom he had part ways in 2005.
The Zimbabwe nation paid dearly for this oversight by Tsvangirai as Mugabe and his Zanu pf won with an outstanding majority country wide. Tsvangirai to everyone’s dismay, because of subsequent splits in the MDC T as people like Tendai Biti formed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Morgan Tsvangirai withdrew MDC T parliarmentarians from Parliarment and the senate arguing that they won those seats on MDC T tickets.
As if that was not enough, Tsvangirai boycotted local by elections leving Mugabe’s Zanu pf with the majority in parliarment and able to chop and change the new constitution at will. At the very least, to date, none of the elctoral reforms agreed upon and signed up to by the GNU principals with the help of the former South African President Thabo Mbeki, were ever implemented as its obvious they would have blocked off Zanu pf’s rigging attempts and created a level electoral field with a conducive electoral environment,…its gone now. Dislodging Zanu pf in 2013 would have been easier than what we have up ahead.
It is folly to imagine that people who 20 years ago could not afford the iconic peugot 404 station wagon and now own farms, helicopters, latest 4 wheel drives, mercs, US$millions in banks and under their beds and in off shore accounts, own mines, businesses and other investments would want to walk away from this ‘manna from heaven!’
The reason why Mugabe continues to rule even if he is at such an advanced age, struggling to walk and see, remember things and so forth, is to buy time while Mugabe, Zim1 family, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats continue to loot national wealth with no one to answer to.
No current Zanu pf generation wants the establishment of a legitimate government that would re establish constitutional rule, audit accounts , land, business and private properties, grab back all illegally obtained wealth and resources then redistribute them to deserving Zimbabweans and Mugabe, Zim1 family, Zanu pf staalwarts and securocrats will not allow the old man to step aside even if he is now just a stooge.
The real person you should be concerned about is Grace Mugabe, who in less than five years has risen to leading the Zanu pf women’s league, achieved a Doctrate from the university of Zimbabwe in 90 days, forced people off Arnold farm and Manzou farms in Mazoe , and ensured that treasury disburses US$1 billion to build a Mugabe memorial university in Mazoe, less than three months after grabbing and privatising the national Mazoe dam, forcibly removing locals and blocking off a national dam from use by villagers for drinking water, irrigation, fishing and other income generating projects.
She is being primed to take over power in 2018 after Mugabe certainly wins the 2018 ballot. He will within a short space of time having re established his control over Zanu pf, announce his successor and it will be Grace Mugabe. Its not a mistake that Grace Mugabe was behind the fall of the fired former Vice president Joyce Mujuru and is again behind the Mnangagwa video by Professor Jonathan Moyo and the Alpha Omega ice scream poison attempt on killing Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa is the last standing block to her rise to power and by all means , in Grace Mugabe’s book, Mnangagwa must fall,..wake up Zimbabwe!
The ruthless manner in which she assaulted South Africa Model Gabriella Engels (20) who almost lost her eye proves how blood thirsty, ruthless and prepared to kill and go to any extend to further her selfish causes. She knows she is in the dying minutes of Mugabe’s rule and the only way she can protect her vast empire of wealth including Manzou and Arnold farms, Alpha Omega dairy, Mazoe dam amongst other including diamonds of billions in diamond money stashed away in offshore accounts and the middle east , is to rise to power and fend off any attempts by anyone to recover this looted wealth beyond Mugabe.
Once she fills in his boots in power, she will be more ruthless than he husband in defending their crime, corruption and wealth. Zimbabwe is a private Gushungo business empire and its folly to imagine that Zimbabwe’s are adequately prepared to unseat the despot led Mugabe Zanu pf regime in 2018,..wake up Zimbabwe!
