‘Mugabe’s biggest achievement was to under develop the black people of Zimbabwe’-Tendai Biti speaking at MDC Alliance rally in Bulawayo

The PDP leader, Tendai Biti at the Bulawayo launch of a Pre-Election pact that brought seven opposition political parties. said a grand plan will be part of the package of the grand coalition, offering deliverables to the people of Zimbabwe.
 
He claimed that their experiences during the period of the Government of National Unity (GNU) adding that they have contacts and countries who have faith in allowing their companies to invest in Zimbabwe.
 
Biti said that Zimbabwe’s GDP is US$12 billion and if the economy grows at 7% per annum its practical to achieve a US$100 billion dollar economy within 15 years.
 
Biti told those present that the Alliance would prioritise rebuilding the nation’s dilapidated infrastructure and attend to the growing energy crisis in Zimbabwe that has led to constant blackouts.
 
Biti said that Zimbabwe has 88 000 kilometres of roads yet only 10% are paved and now mainly potholed.
 
Tendai Biti reiterated the alliance’s commitment to the social agenda pointing out that public hospitals and schools in Zimbabwe are in a very poor state and the majority of Zimbabweans , 37 years after independence, live in thatched huts and use the bush for toilets.
 
According to Biti, Mugabe’s biggest achievement was to under develop the black people of Zimbabwe who are suffering.
 
MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai , MDC leader Professor Welshman Ncube, Jacob Ngarivhume and Rt Brigadier Agrippa Mutambara also addressed the rally. More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
