Outgoing Chief Justice Chidtausiku reveals that he received fake executive order to stop interviews for his replacement

Outgoing Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku today made stunning revelations that he received a fake Executive Order advising him to stop interviews for his replacement.

Chidyausiku told puzzled guests at the official opening of the 2017 legal year in Harare.

According to the top lawyer, he later discovered that the executive order was faked as President Robert Mugabe was in the dark about it.

In his speech the Chief Justice said:

“In light of the above, was surprised to receive communication a few days before the interviews were due to commence that an Executive order had been issued ordering the Judicial Service Commission to stop the interviews for filling the post of Chief Justice.

“I responded to the communication, advising that the Executive’s directive could not be complied with without breaking the Constitution and that the interviews would proceed as planned and in terms of the Constitution.

“I have since established that the President never issued the alleged Executive order to stop the interviews..”.

When news of his shock revelation spread, as per norm, Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo took to twitter to express his views.

He wrote “So JSC was sent a fake Executive Order in a desperate attempt to scuttle a constitutional process?

” Whoever did that must account in Parly!”.

Chidyausiku is retiring from the Bench at the end of February, stepping down from the most powerful position in the judiciary after joining the Supreme Court. By Alice Dube. source bulawayo24
