President Robert Mugabe, given the sole discretion to appoint a Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice and Judge President

The Constitutional Amendment Bill , Zimbabwe Amendment Number 1 Bill, HB 1, 2017, last night sailed through Parliament for adoption, effectively giving the draconian  President  Robert Mugabe, the sole discretion to appoint a Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice and Judge President of his choice

As predicted , the Bill had little or no resistance as the ruling  Zanu-PF party holds over two-thirds majority both in the National Assembly and Senate after MDC T withdrew its seats as it broke up after the NIKUV ballot of 31/07/2013 which is why some people feel Tsvangirai sold the people’s right and democracy to Zanu pf.

Mugabe is now empowered to appoint candidates to the three crucial positions in Zimbabwe’s law making. More news to follow.

As I have continuously warned before, Zanu pf are gearing up for the 2018 ballot and Mugabe is putting in place all safeguards to his hold and monopoly over power. With this open door to partisan and nepotistic appointments by the President all ‘legitimised; by our Constitution, there can only be one winner in elections and we all know who that is.

I repeat, unless and until we institute the relevant reforms as pushed for by the GNU and signed up to by the GNU leaders and Mugabe years ago, we can never have a level political field and I rightly say, going forwards to elections in 2018 without such changes is simply escorting Mugabe to yet another stolen vote and election victory. Whats the point, as we alll know he will win under such circumstances because Mugabe, Zim 1 family, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats have no intention of leaving soon, Wake up Zimbabwe, NO REFORMS NO BALLOT,..SIMPLE!
