(RBZ) orders banks to freeze all accounts belonging to, Kudakwashe Tagwirei a.k.a ‘Queen Bee’s Sakunda Holdings, Sakunda Holdings sister companies; Access Finance, Spartan Security and Croco Motors,

RESERVE BANK OF ZIMBABWE (RBZ) on Friday 20 September 2019 issued a directive to local banks to freeze all accounts belonging to President Mnangagwa’s top ally, Kudakwashe Tagwirei a.k.a ‘Queen Bee’s Sakunda Holdings, Sakunda Holdings sister companies; Access Finance, Spartan Security and Croco Motors, to investigations through its Financial Intelligence Unit, according to the central bank which also demanded that all banks should give written acknowledgement of this order.

The blacklisted firms are being investigated by RBZ who said, “As we carry out further analysis, you are directed to freeze, with immediate effect, all accounts held in the names of the listed entities until further notice, read part of the statement.

“You shall not process any withdrawals or transfers from the accounts; you should, however, allow deposits or other flows in the accounts.

“You shall immediately report to the Unit any deposit or other inflow into the account as any or attempted withdrawal or transfer from the accounts.”

The central bank hasn’t given specific reasons for its drastic measures against Tagwirei and his Sakunda holdings whose Spartan company, in the past, were . through journalist-cum-activist Jealous Mawarire fingered in black market forex laundering in Zimbabwe.

The most controversial aspect of Sakunda Holdings , was that, the company was a leading beneficiary of the controversial Command Agriculture scheme, with Zimbabwe’s Treasury only recently failing to explain or justify to parliament on why payments were made to the Sakunda firm under the Zimbabwe government scheme.

The former Minister of Finance, MDC official Tendai Biti led Public Accounts Committee, said that the command agriculture programme took approximately US$4 billion in two previous farming seasons yet theTreasury failed to produce documentation and vouchers regarding all the payments made.

In 2018, Tagwirei was last year fingered by former Zanu PF youth empowerment lobbyist and then Finance Ministry communications taskforce chair, William Mutumanje – Acie Lumumba – as the Godfather behind illegal foreign currency dealings in the country a.k.a ‘Queen Bee’. Paul Ngwenya.
