Zimbabwe will over the next three months starting from Monday, September 4, implement a mobile registration exercise for Zimbabwean national identity cards, birth and death certificates ahead of the forthcoming voter registration.
The Registrar – General Tobaiwa Mudede went on to warn that only the new plastic ID cards and not the old metal national identity cards currently being phased out will be accepted for voter registration.
To the DISCERNING eye newzimbabwevision media a simple three month mobile registration exercise can not adequately cater for such a massive population in Zimbabwe right across the board from urban, rural through to peri – urban and commercial farming areas and many people will not bother as they will find the exercise daunting.
It is obvious that the exercise will be used as part of Zanu pf rigging schemes by focusing on farming areas and and rural areas, which are Zanu pf strongholds while frustrating urban areas which are mainly opposition strongholds through lengthy delays in voter registration queues thus generating massive voter apathy in affected areas.
By the same token, most Zimbabweans the real game changers particularly the youth in the diaspora will not be eligible to e vote without the new plastic IDs and millions of adults have no plastic IDs as they still hold the old metal IDs.
One just can’t be bothered to travel from the diaspora, then queue up to secure a plastic ID card if its a first time registration or submit a metal ID card and replace it with a plastic card, so its right to say the Registrar general Tobaiwa Mudede is obviously abetting the Mugabe Zanu PF regime rigging .
The other affected people in Zimbabwe are the massive Matebeleland population affected by the horrendous gukurahundi genocide that butchered over 20,000 Ndebele’s from the region between 1983 and 1987.
To date Mugabe and his Zanu pf never want to acknoledge their responsibility for gukurahundi and many children born over the last 40 years from that region were denied birth certificates and IDs because there was no proof of parents death in the form of Death certificates and no Registrar general staff can ever dare write, killed by gukurahundi,..its an accepted but not acknowledged way of dying so Mugabe, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats keep praying it will eventually die.
People do not realise that the bitterness that was created by those who lost families, such as parents, children and siblings through gukurahundi, grew up marginalised and denied opportunities in life then eventually illegally crossed into South Africa as we all know the South African border post is the most porous border and only your cash talks , yet the majority are South African ID and passport holders.
The same people will suffer the greatest victimisation in being denied the right to vote because they have no Zim birth certificate or ID, in essence are just aliens in their motherland. This is a benefit to Mugabe as they have no impact on the voting because they would upset the vote by voting massively anti Mugabe and anti Zanu pf and thsi is why Mugabe’s government will always rush to negotiate extension of Dispensation permits for Zimbabweans in South Africa to ensure they are kept away.
I will keep alerting you to the unfolding scams, but we all know that legally there is nothing in our constitution that can prevent Mugabe calling for an early 2018 election in order to catch the bickering opposition unprepared because Zanu pf are as usual more settled than opposition.
