VP Chiwenga’s estranged wife, Marry Mubaiwa faces arrest over assaulting VP Chiwenga’s maid Delight Munyoro (36) at Hellenic School in Borrowdale following an altercation over the custody of the Chiwenga’s three minor children.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s estranged wife, Marry Mubaiwa Chiwenga is facing arrest over assault allegations. Marry is reported to have lost her cool and assaulted VP Chiwenga’s maid at Hellenic School in Borrowdale. Marry allegedly assaulted the family maid, Delight Munyoro (36) following an altercation over the custody of the Chiwenga’s three minor children.
iHarare has established from state media that Ms Munyoro had gone to pick up the children from the primary school as part of her normal duties. However, when she got there, Marry demanded access to the children. Ms Munyoro told Marry that this was not possible because she had standing orders from the Vice President not to do so until the legal situation is resolved. This did not go down well with Marry who in a fit of rage, allegedly assaulted Ms Munyoro. Ms Munyoro later reported the assault to the police.
Commenting on the matter, National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed Borrowdale Police Station was handling the matter and looking for Marry. Nyathi told the Herald,
I confirm that the police have received a report made by one Delight Munyoro (36) to the effect that Marry Mubaiwa has assaulted her.
The incident is said to have occurred at Hellenic School at around 12.05 pm. We have instituted investigations into the matter and so far no arrests have been made. We are yet to locate the accused person.
The three minor children are currently in the custody of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. Marry filed and won an urgent application at the High Court last week. Justice Christopher Dube-Banda ordered the Vice President to return the children to Marry’s custody. However, Marry’s joy at the High Court victory was shortlived as Chiwenga immediately filed an appeal at the Supreme Court. The effect of the appeal is that the High Court ruling is suspended and the situation remains as it is until a final determination by the Supreme Court.
Marry has since filed an application at the High Court to be granted access to the children pending the Supreme Court hearing. Chiwenga, on the other hand, has filed an urgent chamber application at the Supreme Court seeking to have his appeal fast-tracked.
