ZIMBABWE’Sacting Prosecutor-General Ray Goba, then Namibia’s director of public prosecutions was convicted in 2002 for obstructing the course of justice
Seven candidates attended the interviews for the post of Prosecutor-General yesterday. The post was previously held by the dismissed Johannes Tomana.
The interviews were conducted by the Judicial Service Commission after Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe dismissed Prosecutor General Johannes Tomana in June over alleged incompetence and misconduct.
The six Prosecutor General post candidates included Misheck Hogwe, Charles Chinyama, Tecler Mapota, Florence Ziyambi, Wilson Manase and Peter Mafunda.
Ray Goba was convicted as Namibia’s director of public prosecutions in 2002 in Namibia for ‘obstruction of justice’ in a road traffic offence case .
Charles Chinyama, another candidate for the post is reported to have had a total of fourteen complaints against him for unprofessional conduct submitted to the Law Society of Zimbabwe. More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
