Two Midnight Racers In SA Registered Car Die In Bulawayo CBD Accident
TWO people died on the spot after the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a tree in Bulawayo’s Central Business District last Saturday.
The incident happened at about 12 midnight as the pair was allegedly coming from Queens Sports Club where they had allegedly been drinking beer.
They were travelling in a South African registered Opel Corsa.
Thubelihle Dlodlo of Bellevue and Clifford Sibanda, from Hillside were allegedly drag racing when the accident occurred.
The Bulawayo Fire Brigade officer Edward Mpofu yesterday said the accident occurred at about 12AM and fire fighters were at the scene five minutes later.
“We retrieved two bodies in the car. One of them was trapped. They were travelling in a South African registered Opel Corsa. The vehicle veered off the rod before ramming into a huge tree,” said Mpofu.
He said the pair could have been speeding as evidenced by the serious damage on their car.
“I just suspect they were speeding. It’s said that they were coming from Queens Sports Club.” he said
