BREAKING NEWS: Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Commander General Constantino Guvheya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga has retired, pending redeployment.

President Mnangagwa has made the following changes in the security sector:

 
Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Commander General Constantino Guvheya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga has retired, pending redeployment.
 
Lieutenant General Phillip Valerio Sibanda- has been promoted to a full General and is now the Commander Defence Forces (CDF) from being theCommander, Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA).
 
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner General Dr Augustine Chihuri.
“Commissioner General of Police, Dr Augustine Chihuri who went on leave on December 15, 2017 has been retired from Service.
 
Deputy Commissioner General Cde Godwin Matanga has now been appointed as the Acting Commissioner General of Zimbabwe Republic Police.
 
We know that Zimbabwe’s President Mnangagwa promoted Mugabe’s nephew Air Marshal Perrance Shiri a.k.a Bigboy Samson Chikerema to the rank of Air Chief Marshal after he retired.
 
Major General Sibusiso B Moyo a cabinet Minister who went on ZBC to announce the military takeover and Mugabe’s hose arrest, has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General on retirement.
 
Major General Engelbert Rugeje has also been promoted by Mnangagwa on retirement to the rank of Lieutenant General.
 
Air Vice Marshal Elson Moyo who was the Chief of Staff, Joint Operations and Plans at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces headquarters has been promoted to the rank of Air Marshal and now becomes Commander, Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ)
 
Ambassador Major General Edzai Absolom Chanyuka Chimonyo becomes Commander Zimbabwe National Army and has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, taking over from Gen Sibanda
Brigadier General David Sigauke, Brigadier General John Chris Mupande, Brigadier General Paul Chima and Brigadier General Hlanganani Dube were promoted to the rank of Major General, and Air Commodore Jasper Garikayi Marangwanda has been promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal. . To the Discerning eye newzimbabwevision this is good news that securocrats are retiring but if you look deeper at it, its disconcerting considering that this comes at a time when Mnangagwa is cementing his power, militarising the country and we blindly think he will be any different from his mentor, father and chief advisor Mugabe.
