Italy in unmanageable refugee crisis, threatens to close its ports to stem the migrant flow to Europe from Africa

It is reported that at least 650 migrants were, last Saturday rescued off the rickety boat and safely brought ashore to an Italian port , Catania.
 
Italy is now reportedly threatening to shut ports and confiscate Aid agencies rescue ships as the influx of migrants into the country is now unsustainable. Most are fleeing war and poverty
arriving from Libya through the Mediterranean to Italy because Italy is close to to Libya.

It is stated that over 500,000 migrants have arrived through Italian ports since 2014, with the new arrival numbers rising again, with a total of 83,650 arrivals by sea to Italy.
 
Last week , Italy had a total of 12,600 migrants and refugees arriving on the country;s shores, many coming off rickety boats.
 
According to the UN at least 2,030 migrants have died or gone missing since the beginning of the year 2016. More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
