ZIMBABWE’S NEW PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says the government will compensate those who lost their land during the unavoidable Zanu pf war veteran led Zimbabwe’s land reform programme which will not be reversed.
Farmers from whom land was grabbed, will be compensated in terms of Zimbabwe’s laws said Mnangagwa. This is a sensitive area that touches at the core of the heart of every Zimbabwean and while we all stand in full support of peace and unity, no one will ever want to see distribution of land to blacks ever reversed,..we are united on that.
I say that this is a positive step in that he has assured the people that land redistribution will not be reversed and that those who lost land will be compensated in terms of the law. I therefore advise that the chief call from the people is for a full credible audit of land and those particularly Mugabe, Zim1 family, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats who grabbed multiple farms and those not fully utilising land must be dispossessed of these assets which must be swiftly redistributed to deserving people waiting for farms.
Many farms are well in excess of normal land sizes for farms and must be cut and shared out to deserving waiting people. More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
