‘Urgent Appeal For Assistance By Family Of, Serious Road Traffic Accident Victim, Taz’

Please help.
On the evening of Saturday 16th July, 16 year old Taz Moyo was walking back to his house accompanied by his friends on their way to a sleepover at his home. Around the corner from his home, tragedy befell him and his family as he was catastrophically struck by a car.
His life threatening injuries meant that he had to be airlifted to a specialist hospital almost 60 miles from his home. The forceful nature of his injuries caused significant swelling of his brain which in turn impacted his vitals. This resulted in a number of emergency procedures in the first 24 hours to keep him alive. One of the procedures meant that Taz had a significant amount of skull bone removed to relieve the immense pressure on his brain.

The prognosis for survival was not positive. Taz was put into a medically induced coma and his family remain by his side as his condition remains critical. Doctors are unable to say whether Taz will recover and if so, to what degree that recovery will be. Regardless of the degree, it is without question recovery will take months and months. Taz’s survival thus far is testament to his strength, resilience and the amazing care he is receiving in intensive care at the Southampton General hospital.

To add to the family’s challenges, two days after Taz’s accident, his father, Brian, was admitted to the same hospital with significant complications with a leg injury and he is currently awaiting surgery. How long his recovery will take is unclear and going back to work is not a possibility at the moment.

Taz’s mum, Claire, was job hunting at the time of Taz’s accident but now needs to be with her child to support and encourage him in every way she possibly can. All of this means on top of the tragic circumstances they find themselves in, the family have the harsh reality of the mortgage and bills to cover at a time when no money is coming in.

We have therefore set up this gofundme account to  help Claire and Brian so that they can focus on the immediate needs of their family, including Taz’s little sister, rather than worrying about whether they might lose their house. Assisting them with their bills will enable them to continue to help Taz fight and continue to stay by his side. Any help you can offer financially, however small, will all add up and relieve some of the immense pressure on the family at this emotional and stressful time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you feel compelled to help the Moyo family, we truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Lots of love from the family & friends of the Moyos. xxxx
