Researchers Have Discovered Wreckage Of The Explorer James Cooks HMS Endeavour Ship

Captain James Cook, A British Explorer who commanded the ship HMS Endeavour,  from from 1768 to 1771 is credited with having drawn what is viewed as the then most accurate map of the pacific waters.

Researchers have  discovered  ship wreckage  believed to be that of the explorers ship,  the HMS Endeavour, in Newport harbor, off the state of Rhode Island.

The Endeavour’s location, for centuries,  has always  been a long term mystery and will certainly be heralded as one of the biggest discoveries this side of the century.

The legendary ship  was renamed the Lord Sandwich, after changing hands and used in America’s revolutionary war  when it sunk.

Available records of ship size and dimension strongly point at  the fact that the just  discovered Sandwich, is actually the renamed, historic ship Captain Jame’s Cook Endeavour.

Captain James Cook is reported to  have established the earliest European contact with the east coast of the Australian continent, Hawaii, and the first complete circumnavigation of New Zealand on the historic ship,  HMS Endeavour.
James Cook is credited with having documented the first accurate map of the Pacific waters while  mapping the globe, in greater detail and accuracy than most explorers in global history.
Cook on the Endeavour’s global tours can , to the discerning eye, also  be controversially  viewed as a window to new  discoveries and  global colonisation by imperialists, hence the significance of the find. Sibusiso Ngwenya
