The Girl Child Has Spoken!-‘Hit And Run Kombi Driver, Mabika, Sentenced To Six Years, Eight Month In Prison’

Breaking News: Hit-and-run kombi driver gets 6 years

The Hit and run kombi driver, Wadzanai Mabika, who  had fled to Polokwane South Africa after  knocking down and killing a Form Four Girls High School pupil, Jocelyn Gomba (17), has been sentenced to an effective six year , eight month prison term.

The fugitive Kombi driver’s escape did not last long as he was swiftly traced to Polokwane in South Africa and hauled back on Sunday to Zimbabwe to face justice for his road crime.

Wadzanai Mabika (41) pleaded guilty and  Provincial magistrate Tendai Mahwe sentenced him yesterday to an effective six year , eight month prison term. for  a combined culpable homicide and five traffic offences.

According to the court, Mabika was found guilty of culpable homicide,  along with failure to stop after an accident, failure to assist or establish the state of those involved in the accident and failure to notify police about an accident within 24 hours, along with wreckless driving.

Harare Girls High pupils and Queen Elizabeth pupils, held a protest march during a memorial service for their school colleague that created massive public awareness about the dangers posed to them by the dangerous commuter bus drivers at the illegal taxi rank

The Girl Child Has Spoken, as the publicity generated, by the highly public yet peaceful protest,  held by Harare Girls High pupils and Queen Elizabeth pupils, shamed the authorities into action and the Zimbabwe Republic Police swiftly and tracked down the offender Kombi driver, Odwell Mabanga (35), pictured, to Polokwane in South Africa, where he was arrested and brought back to Zimbabwe, to face justice for the road accident.

This is arguably, a swift application of justice by the authorities and definitely a  most welcome  rude awakening for many Zimbabweans who commit crimes in the motherland and go into hiding in South Africa, that you cannot run from the long arm of the law,…justice will eventually catch up with you!’Discerning Eye’..This is a People Power victory over crime, The Girl Child Has Spoken!..BIG UP TO THE GIRLS!
