Government has begun implementing recommendations of the Civil service audit by merging some departments with duplicate functions, redeploying numerous workers and cutting transport allowances for hundreds of others. Transport allowances for civil servants benefiting from government free daily bus service will be cut and the money channelled to fleet maintenance. This would be effected this month.
