PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has granted amnesty to Yvonne Musarurwa, one of the three MDC-T activists serving a 20-year jail term for killing Harare police Inspector Petros Mutedza in 2011. She was released from Chikurubi Female Prison yesterday under presidential amnesty.

MDCT sources claim that all three jailed activists, Musarurwa, Tungamirai Madzokere and Last Maengahama who jailed 20 years each by Justice Chinembiri Bhunu in 2016 for fatally stoning Mutedza at Glen View shopping centre at an MDC-T rally in May 2011 were released yesterday

Originally, 30 MDC-T activists were arrested over the same matter, but the majority were released over lack of evidence and the MDC-T party, allege that the activists are innocent and that their arrest and jailing was politically motivated. More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
