ZIMBABWE WOMEN-WAKE UP!-photos here depict reality in Zimbabwe’s society. Here we can see Elizabeth Macheka, wife to the late MDC T leader Richard Morgan Tsvangirai, then the feuding MDC T Vice presidents who are hand picked Nelson Chamisa and elected Thokozani Khuphe, and finally Tsvangirai’s mother.Image may contain: 1 person, hat, closeup and outdoor

The message is clear to all Zimbabweans, particularly women that, as a nation, we lack respect for the girl child, women gender equality, women leaders or women in power, step mothers and grieving widows.

The MDC T saga has revealed a bad side about the people of Zimbabwe. All Zimbabweans know that Elizabeth Macheka, the grieving widow in blue, is the woman whom Tsvangirai chose, loved and married and no one, family friend or other has aright to interfere as was witnessed when Tsvangirai’s family blocked Elizabeth from being at her husband’s death bed in his dying hours, yet she was the face of a mother of the nation as the person who stood beside Tsvangirai in MDC T protest marches in Zimbabwe.

The drama became even clearer to the public when Tsvangirai’s step mother insisted she did not want Elizabeth or Nelson Chamisa near her sons dead body and that if this happened , she would commit suicide.

She also refused to disembark from the hearse carrying Tsvangirai’s body in Harare over this, then refused to board the same helicopter flight with Elizabeth, eventually leaving without Elizabeth for Tsvangirai’s village burial.

Lest you forget, a few days before Tsvangirai’s death, his family were already looting property from his Highlands mansion. The government realised there was a crisis unfolding and swiftly stepped in with riot police cover to stop the looting.

MDC T has also created a major dispute between handpicked Vice president Nelson Chamisa and elected woman Vice President Thokozani Khuphe, totally disregarding the party constitution.

Women in Zimbabwe are the majority of the voting electorate and their voices should matter yet the MDC T has abandoned women. To any wise Zimbabwean woman, it is clear that all these things are occuring under the umbrella cover of Tsvangirai and MDC T.

Women, particularly married women should celebrate the fact that Elizabeth’s issue has received such high profile, global attention and MDC T will be forced to seek help from President Emmerson Mnangagwa to ensure that Tsvangirai’s estate is distributed according to the National constitution and the deceased Tsvangirai’s will, not Tsvangirai family preferances. She should receive all thats legally due to her and all these abusive people should be barred from coming anywhere near her or the property left behind to her including the Highlands mansion if the deceased estate gives it to her.

MDC T must also ensure that the choice of a new MDC T leader and potentially new Zimbabwe president is determined at congresss and no one should grab power by ‘coup’ now a popular way of leaders rising in Zimbabwe. Everything exposed by the Tsvangira MDC T saga depicts reality about women in Zimbabwe,….wake up everyone!

These issues affect both women as we can see, and men because its clear what is happening to Elizabeth, is total disregard for his dying wishes, and all men should imagine the same happening to their wives and or mothers of their children.

It not only affects your surviving partner but your children too. It is important for all men to lay out how they want their estate distributed by writing awill while they are still able to do so,…protect your wife, partner and children against heartless extended family!

The government must also enact powerful laws to guard against such heartlessnes, while at the same time, MDC T and all opposition must step up their campaigns for equality of all gender, girl child issues and women in Zimbabwe,..we need change. Please tag the article, share with all friends worldwide and dicuss with all friends and family, while empowering women and the girl child on their rights. All parties should realise if women withdrew their vote, they would never win,..you have the power to bring change..DISCUSS! By Sibusiso Ngwenya
