14 Opposition Parties ,civic society organizations & people flood Harare streets in protest against bond notes

After getting permission from the high court, about 14 opposition parties and dozens of civic society organizations have taken to the streets.

Hundreds of Zimbabweans flooded the streets of Harare on Wednesday (today) protesting against introduction of bond notes. However, police were out in full force to interfere with the peaceful protest.

“Introduction of bond notes is fast approaching and peoples’ views are being ignored by the government which is pushing to have the notes printed against their views” said Trust Nhubu of the #Tajamuka activist group is quoted saying.

Government has said Zimbabwe will start using bond notes in October this year.

The High Court on Tuesday gave the protests a nod after police had initially banned it.  However, police were out in full force to interfere with the peaceful protest. By Thobekile Zhou, source-Bulawayo24
