Mugabe’s Zanu PF regime, swiftly deployed the traditionally brutal Zimbabwe Republic Police Force (ZRP) and Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) to quell the volatile situation. The brutal forces are now on the ground and on a full alert throughout the border town.
 
Earlier on, traders closed their shops as angry Beitbridge residents protested against the imports ban while business people marched from Musina on the South African side but were held back on the South African side by South African authorities and stopped from reaching the Zimbabwean side, and the border post sealed off.
 
Cargo is gathering up at Beitbridge as consignments that are held by customs on goods vehicles build up. The town is literally burning. By Sibusiso Ngwenya. more news to follow……..
