Some social commentators have demanded the arrest of President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace over the disappearance of democracy activist and journalist Itai Dzamara almost a year ago and for abusing the state resources respectively.

Dzamara disappeared on March 9 this year and to date no leads have been made about him.

“Mugabe must be arrested for the disappearance of Itai Dzamara. People must not go around the bush when in fact we are supposed to tell it as it is,” said the commentator.

“The reason why Dzamara was abducted is his campaign for Mugabe to resign so why is it that people are blinding themselves looking for Dzamara where he can never be found leaving the place that is obvious. Justice will never be realised if people can not fight for it.”

The commentator also said Grace must be arrested for abusing public resources, dishing out tractors acquired by the people of Zimbabwe for all Zimbabweans but now used to buy votes for her Zanu PF, that is corruption at its highest level.

“The people of Zimbabwe must learn to be courageous and defend our rights and our resources. No one has the right or privilege to do whatever s/he wants with public resources,” he said.

But Clever Chinyati said the commentator should be given his will to arrest President Mugabe and the first lady as per his  statement.

“For as long his story is of evidence then lets hear from him whether he has already made a police report against the so called accused persons and expect him/her to appear in the courts of law laying out evidence leading to the arrest of the two,” Chinyathi said.

“Anything beyond that then, is something we need to understand that, when ever we write our stories, we are bound to be true and correct and without giving false information on either private, public or the courts of law.”
