BULAWAYO: ‘A Gweru based Soldier today gunned down three family members with an AK47 rifle in New Magwegwe and badly injured his 18 month old baby before turning the gun on himself’

The soldier identified as Carlos Chapeyama (23), fired a total of twenty shots which killed his wife Ashley Phiri (21) and her two sisters Nkosivumile Ncube (16) and Rita Nkomo (23) before shooting and seriously injuring Tlowi Chapeyama his 18 month old baby, before he turned the gun on himself in a failed suicide on Thursday morning.

The Gweru based soldier and his baby are in serious condition and he is currently held under police guard in ICU with his baby at Mpilo. The deceased Ashley’s granny, Esther Nkomo (81) is said to have fled the scene , while a relative (34) who had been asleep on a sofa survived by hiding in the lounge when the shooting broke out around 01:00am

The soldier Carlos Chapeyama had worked at night shift at the Guinea Fowl, ZBC transmitter in Gweru and at the end of his shift, the soldier concealed his Ak in a bag and sneaked off the camp and travelled to his inlaws house in Bulawayo New Magwegwe. His wife Ashley had only recently come back from Mutare where she had been living after they had split because of marital issues. Carlos Chapeyama took advantage of the return and went straight to his inlaws with his service AK rifle and unleashe havoc with 20 rounds upon the family. the army has reportedly offered to take care of the funerals for the multiple family victims.

This is alarming to the public who had been given false hope in November 2017 when soldiers placed Mugabe under house arrest, that soldiers are good people who care about us. Sadly such a horror only gives damning evidence of Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwart and securocrats military government.

The people of Zimbabwe can clearly see that there is no credible vetting when recruiting and arming soldiers. The youthful soldier Carlos Chapeyama (23), obviously joined at an early age which is most likely one of the Zanu pf youth militia, a graduate of the ‘Border Gezi’ militia camps, where the military recruits are not accepted for their academic back ground and maturity, but rather hatred of opposition, support for Zanu pf and readiness to unleash violence upon the public when the order is given to assault the people and force them to vote for Zanu pf.

Remember we are now under a military government, and already 2000 armed soldiers have been deployed by Mnangagwa to rural areas to instill fear into the public. They don’t need to scare us anymore because this soldier proves exactly waht we always say, Zanu pf is a blood thirsty party and the worst is yet to come, in the run up to the harmonised elections in Zimbabwe.

With such trigger happy soldiers, its a miracle that the public were not brutally cut down in masses during the November coup. The public hence forth will no longer feel safe when seeing armed soldiers or even police in the streets. In an ideal world, guns should be at war and only issued to sane individuals by authority granted by their heads and above for specific missions as laid out in the constitution not to wreak havoc upon the masses.

This soldier has done well by enlightening the Zimbabwean public about the real dangers of a Mnangagwa, Zau pf and securocrat military regime. The damage has been done, there can never be any pretence that it never happened or that the public are safe from armed soldiers and police patrolling the streets. Case in point, whats next, an angry soldier fires a bazooka, motar bomb, amoured tanker, throws grenades at innocent civilians or drive an amoured vehicle into the Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats mortorcade or table at a function?

The real wake up call for the Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats and the military government is when an armed soldier goes beserk and unleashes avolley of shots at them at arally or other public function and butchers their own, then maybe then will they begin to concern themselves about the people’s safety. Today, the victims are members of the public, but with such soldiers on the prowl, if I was Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats and the military government, I’d sleep with only one eye closed,..its not safe anymore for everyone and rightly so because this regime taught soldiers you can remove anyone if you dont want them in power wnd you have the guns to back you up. This is why I have always said legitimising acoup is simply legalising criminal activity as long as one has the muscle to back it up,..military guns in this case. Now e are slowly reaping what we sowed when we celebrated Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwart and securocrat military regime….wake up Zimbabwe!

Anything can happen any time when soldiers are out of control under a military government.

Lest you forget, during the diamond rush a few years ago, two military gunship helicopters were used in broad day light to shoot and kill 140 people at Chiadzwa diamond fiels within a few seconds. The shooting attack was so violent that it was followed up with soldiers on foot with dogs, shooting and killing people, all an exercise used to remove people from Chiadzwa and militarise the diamond fields, which have made the securocrats filthy rich multi millionaires. wake up Zimbabwe. The threat to public safety from such trigger happy characters patrolling the streets fully armed at atime of peace, is real and pending. Its only aquestion of time before such thugs unleash havoc upon the Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts securocrats and the military government.
