Cash Strapped Government Has Approved, The Abolishment Of 22 000 Civil Service Posts

President Robert Mugabe is reportedly not happy with the number of civil servants.

This was said by the Civil Service Commission chairman, Mariyawanda Nzuwah when he was addressing a parliamentary committee on finance.

Nzuwa said he was taken to task by President Robert Mugabe over the swollen government work-force.

Dr Nzuwa said this when he appeared before the parliamentary portfolio committee on Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare.

Doctor Nzuwa said cabinet has approved the abolishment of 22 000 posts in the commission after completing the civil service audit.

He accused cabinet ministers of contributing to the bloated civil service wage-bill through employing their private staff.

He said some of the people who were found on the payroll had since relocated abroad with one having been called from Australia, but he was still receiving his salary,  he says over $400 million is set to be saved annually. – Source-bulawayo24
