People Power By Girls High And Queen Elizabeth Pupils Marching In Protest To A Colleague’s Death.

 
Recently, a Form Four Harare Girls High School pupil, Jocelyn Gomba (17) was knocked down and killed by a kombi at an undesignated, illegal taxi rank close to the school’s entrance.
 
Sadly, Jocelyn Gomba passed away on the spot, while Wadzanayi Mabika (41) was seriously injured in the accident.
The Kombi driver, Odwell Mabanga (35), fled to South Africa but was swiftly tracked down to Polokwane, in South Africa.
 
Harare Girls High pupils and Queen Elizabeth pupils, held a protest march during a memorial service for their school colleague that created massive public awareness about the dangers posed to them by the dangerous commuter bus drivers at the illegal taxi rank
 
The media publicity generated, by the highly public yet peaceful protest, shamed the authorities into action and the Zimbabwe Republic Police swiftly and tracked down the offender Kombi driver, Odwell Mabanga (35), pictured, to , where he was arrested and brought back to Zimbabwe, to face justice for the road accident.
 
This is a rude awakening for many Zimbabweans who commit crimes in the motherland and go into hiding in SouthAfrica, that you cannot run from the long arm of the law,…justice will eventually catch up with you! By Sibusiso Ngwenya
