‘Sen Mohadi Dragged Into Rushwaya Sex Scandal ‘
The Senator for Beitbridge Tambudzani Mohadi came to the rescue of parents who are fighting a sex scandal case at the Beitbridge Courts when she raided the house of an alleged paedophile and found him camped with two little girls who were missing from their homes.
According to Masvingo Mirror, Mohadi said she raided the place where Rayson Tsvangirai Rushwaya (26) rents one room in Dulivhadzimu and found him with two teen age girls, one of whom is pregnant.
Ironically the girls had earlier refuted in court that they stay with Rushwaya when their parents laid abduction cases against the later.
The case is still running at the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court.
“I can confirm that I went to the accused’s house and found him with two young girls. The girls were fighting each other on who should stay with Rushwaya in the house.
“I have handed over the matter to the Police,” said Senator Mohadi.
The pregnant girl was allegedly forced to sleep outside the house the night before Mohadi conducted the raid.
Mohadi who was accompanied by activist Patricia Ndlovu, the parents of the girls and the Police found Rushwaya and the two girls deep in argument as to who should live inside the house.
“The parents received a report that the girls were fighting and sought help from Ndlovu who in turn approached Mohadi,” said a source that was at the scene when the Senator pounced.
It is unlawful under Section 93 (1) (11) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act for anyone to take a child under the age of 18 and deprive the child’s lawful custodian access to the child.
There have been many reports doing the rounds in Beitbridge where Rushwaya is accused of abusing little school girls.
“She (Mohadi) asked the girls why they had lied before the court that they did not live with Rushwaya and one is reported to have said she was influenced by the accused to mislead the court,” said the source.
Both girls had told the court that they never lived with Rushwaya but they only visited him for a few hours.
“Rushwaya knelt down and apologised but Mohadi was irritated to hear that the pregnant girl was sleeping outside while Rushwaya slept with the other girl inside the house,” said the source.
The pregnant girl is said to have turned 18 last month. Ndlovu told The Mirror in an interview that there were many cases of abuse of the girl child but these were going unreported because poverty-stricken parents accepted gifts from perverts.
“Economic hardships force people into accepting such situations that traumatise girls for all their lives,” she said.
Ndlovu said she was extremely disappointed by Police’s sluggish approach to cases of abuse of girls. She said she had inside a month uncovered two such cases that were swept under the carpet by the Police.
Rushwaya’s trial continues this week when the State is expected to lead evidence from other witnesses. If convicted, Rushwaya, faces a jail term of not less than five years.
