12 years Jail For Lalapanzi Man ‘Jealous Mugariri’ (22) For Breaking Mother’s Arm & Stabbing Friend With Spear

Lalapanzi: A 22 year old man has been jailed for an effective 12 years after he broke his mother’s arm and stabbed his friend with a spear in the stomach.

Magistrate, Morgan Nemadire slapped Jealous Mugariri with 15 years in prison after convicting him for attempted murder but suspended three years for five years on condition of good behavior.

Prosecutors had told the court that on February 15 this year, at around 8.30PM, Menson Jemwa and one Isaac Maragwe were drinking beer when Mugariri approached them before grabbing Jemwa’s beer and drinking it without his consent.

Jemwa and Maragwe later reported Mugariri to his mother, a member of the neighborhood watch committee, as they wanted her to arrest her son.

Mugariri’s mother reprimanded her son and tried to stop him from assaulting the duo. A drunken Mugariri reportedly picked up a brick and hit his mother with it, breaking her arm in the process.

He (Mugariri) went on to stab Maragwe above the eye with an unknown object before stabbing Jemwa with a spear in the stomach.

Jemwa was ferried to the hospital and, upon discharge he reported the matter to the police.
