President Emmerson Mnangagwa gazettes healthy, fat pension and retirement benefits for ex presidents of Zimbabwe.
After rewarding Mugabe with a US $10million golden handshake and countless benefits, Mnangagwa is clearly securing his own retirement. It is strange that when a broken economy , suffering people, Zimbabweans impoverished by loss of pensions because of Zanu pf ruining of the economy, continue to suffer such ridiculous decisions made only to cement political power and protect ones loot, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has chosen to gazettes pension and retirement benefits for ex presidents of Zimbabwe.
Ex Presidents of Zimbabwe, since 31st December 1987, for at least one full term of office, shall be entitled to the use and enjoyment of the following services and allowances:
At least 6 security personnel 2 drivers,2 private secretaries and 2 aide-de-camp officers or personnel assistance and 2 office attendants.
Ex presidents will be entitled to fully-furnished office accommodation, landline telephone and mobile,2 computers and office equipment and materials.
Ex Presidents will get a fully-furnished official residence at any place in Harare.
A former President eg Mugabe will be entitled to a housing allowance to be determined by the sitting President eg Mnangagwa or payment of a lump sum equal to the value of the private residence.
If a former President dies, his or her surviving spouse, or if there is no surviving spouse, his or her dependent child, must continue to be provided with suitable State residential accommodation.
Ex presidents houses, will be entitled to maximum five bedrooms, a guest wing with 3bedrooms, a study, swimming pool, 2guardrooms and 2 garages on land not exceeding 5 000 square metres.
Ex presidents will be entitled to 3 domestic employees,2 gardeners, 2 cooks , 2waiters and 2 laundry persons.
Ex presidents, their spouses and any dependent child will be entitled to free medical aid.
Ex presidents and their spouses will be entitled to a diplomatic passport, first class air and rail private travel within the country and entitled to max 4 international air private trips per year.
Ex Presidents will be entitled to a sedan (Mercedes Benz S500 Series, a 4×4 station wagon, and a pickup van and will have at their disposal an adequate number of vehicles determined by them and at the disposal of security personnel and other staff serving the former Presidents, Fuel costs covered by Government , vehicles permanently at the disposal of ex Presidents and replaced every five years.
Other benefits are entertainment allowance to be determined by the President and payment of utility bills such as water, electricity, telephone in respect of the office and official residence of the former President. By Sibusiso Ngwenya.
