The Struggle Ahead Of Us Is Bigger Than Political Leaders And Their Political Parties

As Zimbabwe we are faced with a struggle which is now bigger than political parties, political leaders or individuals. The various political leaders and their political parties have played a critical role in liberating us from the bondage we find ourselves in. We remain grateful for the various opposition political leaders and their parties to bring the desired change of. However, one factor that has derailed the achievement of our objectives has been a major shift from the set objectives.

Instead of focusing our energies on our tormentors, energy has been channelled towards fighting each other as opposition political parties. The result has been overdrive glorifying of our various political leaders at the detriment of achieving democracy, economic independence and an improved standard of living for the ordinary person in Chiendambuya, Dotito or Mukumbura. Due to the differences of our political leaders, there has been increased blind political party allegiance by the ordinary person which brings nothing to us.

The challenge we have had with party led strategies stem from these personal differences among the various political leaders. Such a scenario has given rise to ridiculing of initiatives led by political parties by their rivals regardless of how nobble the initiatives are. The situation has given rise to discord among the democratic forces working against the ordinary person.

It is heart-warming to see that citizens are finally realising that none but ourselves will free .ourselves from the claws of the monstrous Mugabe and his cronies. The people have started coming up with various initiatives and campaigns like Occupy Africa Unit Square, This Flag and 16 Days of Occupation of Africa Unit Square which are not political party oriented but people oriented to free ourselves. It is these complimentary strategies spearheaded by the people and not politicians which will yield the desired results.

To fully complement the efforts of the various political parties and leaders, there is need to reset to the default mode by doing an introspection of why the splinted political parties were formed in the first place (to free us from Mugabe bondage and his mismanagement). Once we are aware of what needs to be achieved, everyone will then understand that the situation we a facing calls for extra ordinary measures where all Zimbabweans regardless of their political, religious or ethnic backgrounds need to converge for a common cause which will bring us the desired democratic change, economic independence and better livelihoods for all of us.

Citizens will get a better understanding that our situation calls for all of us who are affected by the predicament facing us to join other nonpartisan forces already on the ground fighting for the complete cooperation of the tyrant regime or total disintegration of Mugabe’s hegemony. Citizens have to embrace initiatives such as Occupy Africa Unity Square, This Flag and 16 Days of Occupation of Africa Unit Square.

I therefore encourage all those affected by the current situation to join those occupying the Africa Unit Square to send a message to Mr Mugabe that HATICHADA. I AM MAKING MYSELF PART OF THIS MOVEMENT. Zimbabwe is our home and belongs to us all AND does not belong to Mugabe and his family alone together with those protecting him to enjoy freebies from our hard work. By Livingstone Masamba
