Even though Zec now allows voter registration by aliens and their participation in the 2018 ballot, ZEC stll adamantly declared that diaspora Zimbabweans cannot vote in the 2018 elections until the Parliamentary parties, MDC, MDC-T and ZANU PF change Zimbabwe’s law according to the Acting ZEC Chairperson Emmanuel Magade.
 
This triggered controversial debate as others questioned the logic in Diaspora voting since the voting is ward based hence its ridiculous for diaspora Zimbabweans to have a say in matters of a country they do not live in according to participants in the twitter debate
 
They went on to declare, we say no to diaspora vote and whoever that wants to vote must return home and register as well as vote.
 
However the progressive minded Harare West Legislator Jesse Majome swiftly intervened in the debate and said “Diaspora vote for non-State employees would work in exactly the same way that Zimbabweans who work for the State have been voting from Zimbabwe’s embassies for wards in Zimbabwe using POSTAL voting based on their local address i.e. ward and even polling station.
 
Majome’s clarification is important, as its ridiculous that a diaspora that has kept Zimbabwe afloat over the last 18 years with food, cash and other support to families, revenue to government through duty import taxes, money transfers, information disemination exposing corruption, pressuring the oppressive Mugabe, Mnangagwa Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats with massive global attention to the extent of corruption by the thieving Zanu pf , are today told not by Zanu pf but the same people who depended on them for food, medicine, clothes and all other support that they are not ‘Zimbabwean’ enough to vote in a system that actually allows aliens to vote.
 
These people are so shallow that they do not realise that the removal of Mugabe changed nothing as we only replaced him with a more ruthless Mnangagwa, who openly admitted that Mugabe is his mentor, father and someone he will always approach for advice,..wake up Zimbabwe! Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats must all go!
 
We only have one shot to remove this ruthless Zanu pf regime and its incumbent upon us to unite and fight a common evil Zanu pf as one because politics is a game of numbers. Unless and until Shonas and Ndebele’s speak with one voice, opposition speak with one voice and diaspora and locals speak with one voice, we don’t stand a chance against Zanu pf who will fight here and there but when it comes to elections, speak with one voice and fight a common enemy together as one.
 
For the people of Zimbabwe to approach 2018 elections in factions, would simply be an exercise to legitimise an illegitimate Mnangagwa, Zanu pf and securocrats regime and sign up for continuous suffering under Zanu pf.
 
If you are Zimbabwean and had packed your bags ready to go back now that Mugabe has been removed, you might want to start unpacking again as you will not be able to freely exercise your constitutional right to vote.
 
We must step up efforts to register on the BVR system, push for the UN, Sadc and AU to be involved in monitoring elections, remove draconian acts like AIPPA and POSA laws, open up rural areas to activist and opposition and voter campaigns, remove the military from cabinet and fight for diaspora votes to be allowed.
 
Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats are well aware that the majority of diaspora Zimbabweans are people who fled their oppressive rule under Mugabe and the real voices in global defiance to their oppressive rule, whose numbers over approximately 6 million is powerful enough to remove them, case in point is that, Zimbabwe with a population of approximately 15 million people only has just over 4 million Zimbabweans registered for the 2018 elections, bring in the diaspora votes and Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats will be relegated to political dustbins of history for ever.
 
Your voice, your vote matters in building a better tomorrow for all our children coloured, black, white, any race any tribe or political party, so join us in shaping the future through fearless information dissemination. Remember those strongly opposed to disapora votes are those who have benefited from the corrupt activity by mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats and who prefer to have the system remain in place., so ignore them, they can never silence the diaspora,.. ‘Iwe neni tinebasa!’
