NEWLY-APPOINTED Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) chairperson, Priscilla Chigumba , divulges that ex-soldiers constitute 15% of the electoral management staff
Justice Priscilla Chigumba announced this before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs yesterday, after opposition parties demanded the de-militarisation of Zec in order to restore public confidence in Zimbabwe’s electoral system before the 2018 harmonised elections .

Last week the fired former Vice president and zanu pf stalwart, a war veteran Joyce Mujuru, also the wife of the late former General Solomon Mujuru who led the guerrilla war, last week wrote to President Emmerson Mnangagwa demanding that soldiers must be confined to barracks and stay out of the election management system.
She is a powerful voice being a war veteran and ex wife to the late General Solomon Mujuru, so she is well aware of the inner workings of Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats in cahoots with his militarised cabinet to deny the people of Zimbabwe, free and fair elections as she obviously knows that a militarised Zec is the prelude to withholding or tampering with election results if Zanu PF lose the 2018 harmonised ballot.

#ThisFlag human rights campaigner Pastor Evans Evan Mawarire told members of both the Houses of Commons and Lords in the British parliament last week that Zanu-PF’s culture appears to be second nature to the Zimbabwe government and his view of the 2018 harmonised elections is that the ballot will not be free and fair.
Mawarire likened the coup against Mugabe by the military as simply a game of musical chairs, in other words, the same people who had served the Mugabe Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats regime, are the ones now in the Mnangagwa, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats, militarised government.
Pastor Evan Mawarire, warned that it would be folly of the British government to engage dealing with Mnangagwa. Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats regime while simply seeking economic gain at the expense of the real interests of the people of Zimbabwe, the real victims of Mugabe’s 37 year reign of destruction.
